Traditionally, orangeries feature a roof lantern, and at The Little Conservatory Company, we offer a diverse range of options for these. You can choose from various roof lantern designs, or opt for a solid or fully glazed roof to best suit your needs.

Your orangery can be finished in a beautiful array of colours, including translucent stains to show off the natural grain of the timber, and you can choose a different colour and finish for the interior and exterior frames.
Contact UsThermal Efficiency
Orangeries generally feature more substantial construction compared to conservatories, and so are generally more insulated. We also incorporate thermally efficient roofing systems, windows and doors to ensure your space stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Contact UsOriginally built to house citrus trees (like oranges!) during colder months, orangeries differ from conservatories in their structure. Orangeries typically have a solid brick base with large windows, offering more insulation than a mostly-glass conservatory. Most orangeries today feature a flat roof with a roof lantern to allow for plenty of natural light.
A wooden orangery is a luxurious extension to your property, crafted with sustainable hardwood for a timeless appeal. It provides a perfect space for relaxation and entertainment, tailored to your preferences with customisation options like decorative features, glazing choices, and door styles. Designed for thermal efficiency, a timber orangery offers comfort all year round while enhancing the natural beauty of your surroundings.
At The Little Conservatory Company, we specialise in creative living spaces, meaning that we pride ourselves on creating bespoke spaces with plenty of customisation options. Your new orangery can be customised with our wide range of new windows and doors, as well as finish and hardware options.
In most cases, planning permission is not necessary for timber orangeries because adding one to your home is usually allowed under the new ‘permitted development’ rules (subject to certain conditions). Terraced and semi-detached homes can make additions up to six metres without planning permission whilst detached houses can now add large structures up to eight metres without permission as demonstrated.
